At MTPA, our underwriting expertise, deep knowledge of industry requirements, a straightforward style of underwriting, and a talented team of approachable, down-to-earth, and  ‘can-do’ attitude, is what make us different. Mari Tonee Pacres Atil
Founder and General Manager

Mari Tonee Pacres Atil is the founder and general manager of MTPA Insurance Services, a managing general agent (MGA) specializing in Surety Bonds and Engineering Insurance, providing bespoke and innovative products for independent agents nationwide. She has held a series of leadership roles since establishing MTPA Insurance, including Pacres Atil Insurance Management, Inc., as the CEO, Builders Cardinal Corporation as President, and Ayahay Technologies Corporation as Chief Financial Officer. Her solid corporate experience is mainly in the financial service industries, where she was commissioned as a technical consultant of two large financial collection firms in the Philippines. Before establishing the company, she underwent a series of certifications from the Insurance Institute for Asia and the Pacific (IIAP) and licenses from the Insurance Commission (IC), training and seminars from various insurance companies. She is a graduate of Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management at the University of Cebu and took her MBA program with emphasis in Financial Management at her Alma mater. Tonee is a Lean Six Sigma practitioner with both a yellow and a green belt credential. For over 15 years in the insurance arena, Tonee developed a sense of strong leadership, superb decision-making, and unparalleled operational and financial skills.

James Luban Atil
Co-founder and Partnership manager

James Luban Atil is the Co-founder and partnership manager at MTPA Insurance. In this position, James oversees the company’s agency expansion and sets its strategic direction and tactical implementation. He is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Marketing Management and earned his  MBA in Financial Management at the University of Cebu. James’ early career began as a marketing professional selling a range of tangible products, and later transitioned to insurance and financial solutions. For over thirteen (13) years in the industry, he honed his leadership and management capabilities. James’s valuable work experiences include being a certified investment solicitor (CIS) representing Philam Asset Management, Inc., and transferring to First Metro Asset Management, Inc., and helping AXA in the region VII business expansion as the agency development manager; and the following year,  James set up an HMO agency under Maxicare Healthcare Corporation. In 2018, he took an interest in the insurance and risk management space, where he studied certification from PECB as an ISO 31000 certified risk manager (CRM) and further studied at the Asian Institute of Management in the Enterprise Risk Management program while pursuing his Ph.D. in Management with an emphasis in the study of the insurance industry.

The MTPA Insurance team has years of surety bond and engineering insurance experience. We can be an invaluable resource for your team by making the process of securing surety bonds and engineering insurance for your clients extremely easy. We have access to a variety of surety companies and engineering-savvy providers and can provide a solution tailored to your clients need, from small to large contractors, developers, and other contracting needs.

OUR INSURANCE PROVIDERS

Each of the insurance companies that MTPA Insurance Services represents is registered, licensed, and regulated in the Philippines in where it conducts business.

MTPA only works with insurance providers who meet the strictest requirements in terms of financial security, longevity in the market, and best product portfolio. All insurance quotes and policies issued by MTPA Insurance Services are issued in accordance with our General Agency Agreement and therefore have a binding effect. Premium payments made to MTPA Insurance Services are made with full release of responsibility to the insured, i.e. payments made to MTPA Insurance Services or deemed to have been made directly to our Insurance providers with no recourse against the insured. Likewise, service of suit and other formal legal action can be received by us on behalf of our insurance providers with binding effect.

OUR PLATFORM

MTPA Insurance Services ensures that our interests are aligned with the insurance providers and their reinsurers to win the confidence of the insurers that provide us with underwriting capacity. It is increasingly important that our agency management systems are state-of-the-art and have the most accurate data flowing freely in real-time.

We used the latest agency management systems to make the application, underwriting information, policy issuance, billing, and record-keeping easy for all parties. This saves everyone time and money and gets the specialized products into your clients’ hands much faster.

HOW WE DO BUSINESS

At MTPA Insurance, we do things the right way. Our authorization is contractually managed through our agency agreement with our insurance providers. In accordance with the agreement in place, we work in the interests of the respective insurance company(ies) on areas of risk evaluation, underwriting, and customer satisfaction. In addition, each insurance quote, issued policy, and claim will carry the legal name of the insurance company that bears the risk for a given policy.

 MTPA Insurance Services has agreements with few leading insurance providers in the Philippines, who benefit by accessing our market reach, underwriting, and claims expertise in the products and/or territories in which we operate. This local expertise and/or representation is typically not available to the providers we represent and would be more expensive for our providers to develop the “in-house” resources, set up offices, or branch operations needed to deliver these solutions for the products we offer and/or in the territories we operate.

We perform the above services on behalf of these insurance providers and are remunerated by them through commission to provide specialized insurance services to independent insurance agents nationwide.

We can work through your personnel or staff, so we are invisible to your clients, or work directly with your clients to save you additional time. Once the necessary underwriting information is provided and the approval is secured, the policy is prepared and forwarded to you or your client, normally within 24-48 hours. You will also be able to view copies of the bonds for all your clients online.
